An air conditioner stamping die is custom tooling used to blank, pierce, bend, flange and form structural sheet metal components used in air-conditioning assemblies. Depending on the component, the tooling may be designed as a progressive die, transfer die or a sequence of separate forming and cutting dies.
Dongguan Changdong Tool & Die Co., Ltd. designs and manufactures air conditioner stamping tools for suitable panels, bases, covers, mounting brackets and other structural sheet metal parts. Tooling development is based on the finished drawing, material, thickness, production volume, dimensional requirements and customer press conditions.
This page focuses on structural sheet metal stamping tooling for air-conditioning components. It does not describe specialized heat-exchanger fin dies.
Panels, bases, covers and mounting components can require combinations of piercing, bending, embossing and flanging.
Progressive, transfer and staged tooling are evaluated according to component size, geometry and production conditions.
Suitable tooling can be tested using Changdong's in-house presses according to die size, force and equipment conditions.
Hole position, profiles, formed features and selected dimensions can be inspected according to the project drawing.
The tooling route depends on the component. Smaller brackets and multi-feature parts can be suitable for progressive dies. Larger bases, covers or formed structural panels may use transfer or staged tooling where individual blanking, forming, piercing and flanging operations are easier to control. The correct route should be selected from DFM, production volume, material behavior and the final production press rather than from the appliance type alone.
Base plates and chassis components may combine pierced mounting features, ribs, formed areas and multiple edge flanges.
Sheet metal covers and panels can require hole-position control, formed ventilation features, edge geometry and surface protection.
Compressor, motor, pipe-support and general assembly brackets may combine piercing, bending and locating features.
Reinforcement and support components can require controlled flange angles, embossments and assembly-related dimensions.
| Tooling Route | Typical Selection Logic |
|---|---|
| Progressive die | Suitable for repetitive brackets and smaller parts where piercing and forming can be completed while the component remains connected to the strip. |
| Transfer die | Can be considered when a larger or more deeply formed component must move independently between stations. |
| Staged / single-operation dies | Useful when blanking, forming, piercing or flanging are more practical as separate operations because of component size or process requirements. |
For air-conditioner components specifically suited to multi-station strip-fed production, see Multi-Station Progressive Die for Appliance Metal Parts.
Air-conditioner bases, covers and brackets often contain multiple mounting holes, slots, bends and flanged edges that must align with later assembly operations.
Piercing sequence should be selected according to how later forming affects feature location. A hole pierced before a major bend can move relative to the final assembly datum, while later piercing requires stable access and part location after forming.
Bend angles, flange height and springback should therefore be developed together with the final hole-position requirements rather than treating each operation independently.
Structural air-conditioner sheet metal may use galvanized or coated material depending on location and corrosion requirements. Tooling therefore needs to consider more than formability.
Tool finish, local contact pressure, lubrication and scrap control can influence coating damage, scratching and material buildup on the working surfaces.
Surface requirements should be reviewed from the actual material specification and component function. Changdong does not apply a universal scratch-free guarantee to all coated-sheet projects.
Many air-conditioning sheet metal parts are not difficult because of extreme draw depth. Their challenge is the number of assembly relationships concentrated in one stamped component: holes, brackets, bends, mounting surfaces and edge features all need to align after forming.
A tooling process should therefore be developed around the final assembly datums and press conditions rather than only around the individual cutting and bending operations.
| Capability | Reference | Conditions |

An air conditioner stamping die is custom tooling used to blank, pierce, bend, flange and form structural sheet metal components for air-conditioning assemblies.
Typical structural applications can include panels, covers, bases, chassis components, mounting brackets and supports. Tooling may use progressive, transfer or staged die architecture depending on component geometry and production requirements.
Dongguan Changdong Tool & Die Co., Ltd. designs and manufactures custom appliance stamping tooling with DFM, machining, assembly, suitable 45T–800T press tryout and sample-validation support.
This page covers structural air-conditioner sheet metal tooling. Changdong is not presented here as a heat-exchanger fin-die supplier, air-conditioner brand or stamping press manufacturer.
Suitable structural applications can include sheet metal bases, covers, panels, brackets, supports and chassis components. The actual tooling structure depends on the part drawing and production process.
This page covers structural sheet metal stamping dies rather than specialized heat-exchanger fin dies. Fin tooling is a separate high-speed precision tooling category and is not represented by this page.
Yes, suitable repetitive brackets and smaller sheet metal parts can use progressive tooling when the strip layout can maintain stable feeding and forming throughout the stations.
Suitable coated or galvanized sheet can be stamped, but tool finish, lubrication, material buildup, surface marking and the customer's coating requirements should be reviewed during tooling development.
