Stamping Press Capability
Changdong uses metal stamping presses for die tryout, sample validation, process adjustment and sheet metal stamping support. Our in-house press capability helps verify whether a stamping die can produce stable parts under real production conditions before final approval or delivery.
Our press range includes 45T, 160T, 200T, 260T, 400T and 800T equipment, supporting different tooling projects from small precision stamping dies to larger automotive and structural sheet metal forming dies. Changdong is not a stamping press machine manufacturer; we use stamping presses as part of our die manufacturing, tryout and stamped sample validation process.
Changdong has stamping press capability from 45T to 800T, including one 800T press, one 400T press, one 260T press, one 200T press, three 160T presses and one 45T press. These presses are used for die tryout, sample validation, process correction and sheet metal stamping support for progressive dies, transfer dies, single-stage dies, prototype dies and automotive stamping dies.
A stamping press provides the force and motion required to cut, bend, draw, form, trim, pierce or flange sheet metal using a stamping die. In a die manufacturing project, the press is not only used for production. It is also used to test whether the die structure, clearance, forming surface, springback compensation and material flow are working correctly.
During stamping die tryout and process validation, engineers check the stamped sample, adjust the die and confirm whether the tool can run repeatedly with stable quality.
Changdong supports stamping die projects with a practical press range from 45T to 800T. This allows our team to perform die tryout, sample validation, process adjustment and small-batch sheet metal stamping support for different tooling sizes and forming requirements.
Our press equipment includes one 800T press, one 400T press, one 260T press, one 200T press, three 160T presses and one 45T press. This range helps us test both small precision dies and larger automotive or structural stamping dies under more realistic production conditions.
| Press Capacity | Quantity | Typical Use | Project Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 800T | 1 set | Large dies, automotive stamping dies, structural parts and deeper forming projects. | Supports high-tonnage tryout for larger tooling and demanding sheet metal forming requirements. |
| 400T | 1 set | Medium to large stamping dies, forming parts and structural components. | Provides additional capacity for larger die validation and process adjustment. |
| 260T | 1 set | Medium-size progressive dies, forming dies and prototype validation. | Useful for checking forming stability, trimming accuracy and stamped sample quality. |
| 200T | 1 set | Single-stage dies, small to medium progressive dies and sheet metal sample runs. | Supports flexible tryout and sample validation for different tooling stages. |
| 160T | 3 sets | Progressive dies, small automotive brackets, clips, covers and precision sheet metal parts. | Multiple 160T presses improve scheduling flexibility for tryout, correction and sample production. |
| 45T | 1 set | Small dies, small stamped parts, early sample checks and light-duty trial operations. | Supports quick validation for smaller parts and simple die operations. |

This press range allows our team to verify small, medium and large stamping dies in-house. Smaller presses are suitable for light-duty trial operations and small precision parts, while 400T and 800T press capacity supports larger dies, automotive structural parts, deeper forming and more demanding sheet metal stamping projects.
With 8 stamping presses ranging from 45T to 800T, Changdong can validate different die sizes and forming requirements in-house. This capability is important because a stamping die should be tested under practical press conditions before it is approved for delivery or production.
Smaller presses are suitable for light-duty trial operations, prototype samples and small precision parts, while higher-tonnage presses support larger dies, automotive structural parts, deeper forming and more demanding sheet metal stamping projects.
Different stamping dies require different press conditions. A small progressive die may focus on feeding accuracy and repeatability, while a large automotive transfer die may require higher tonnage, larger bed size and stable forming force.
Press equipment is used to check strip feeding, station balance, pilot accuracy, part cut-off, burr condition and repeated production stability.
Transfer die validation checks forming sequence, part locating, transfer clearance, trimming accuracy and dimensional repeatability between stations.
Automotive tooling often requires press tryout to confirm springback, formed depth, hole position, profile accuracy and sample inspection results.
For tooling categories, see our pages on progressive stamping dies and transfer dies.
Even when a stamping die is designed carefully and supported by CAE simulation, real press tryout is still necessary. The actual press condition can reveal problems such as springback, burrs, cracking, wrinkling, surface marks, feeding instability, trimming deviation or hole movement.
This is why stamping press capability is important for a die manufacturer. It allows engineers to test the tooling under real load, correct problems and validate stamped samples before the die is approved for production.
During stamping press tryout, engineers review both part quality and die behavior. A good sample is not enough; the process must also be repeatable and stable.
| Check Item | What Engineers Review | Common Correction |
|---|---|---|
| Forming Quality | Cracking, wrinkling, thinning, formed depth and surface marks. | Adjust radius, drawbeads, blank holder force or forming surface. |
| Cutting Quality | Burr condition, edge quality, trimming line and hole accuracy. | Correct clearance, punch condition, trim line or cutting insert. |
| Dimensional Accuracy | Profile, hole position, flange angle, springback and critical dimensions. | Modify die face, restrike area, locating point or compensation strategy. |
| Process Stability | Strip feeding, transfer movement, part ejection, scrap removal and repeatability. | Adjust pilots, lifters, sensors, transfer path or press setting. |
A stamping press works together with the die, feeding system, tooling setup, safety devices and inspection process. For die tryout, the press must provide enough tonnage, stable motion, suitable bed size and proper shut height for the tooling.
Press capability is only one part of a complete manufacturing system. It should be supported by die design, CNC machining, WEDM cutting, assembly, tryout correction and inspection. For a broader view of our shopfloor capacity, see our stamping die manufacturing equipment.
High-tonnage stamping press capability is important for larger dies, thicker materials, deeper forming, structural parts and automotive stamping applications. Changdong’s 800T and 400T press capacity allows engineers to validate larger tooling under stronger forming loads and more realistic production conditions.
