This video shows the tryout process of a large progressive stamping die at Changdong. During die tryout, the tooling is tested under press conditions to check feeding stability, forming accuracy, burr condition, part release and sample repeatability.
Large progressive dies are commonly used for medium to high-volume metal stamping production, especially when multiple operations such as piercing, trimming, bending and forming need to be completed in a continuous strip-fed process.
Progressive die tryout is an important step before mass production. It helps verify whether the stamping die can run smoothly, produce stable samples and meet the required dimensional accuracy. For large progressive stamping dies, tryout also checks die movement, feeding pitch, strip layout, part forming quality and production reliability.
The strip feeding process is checked to confirm stable pitch, smooth movement and correct positioning through each station.
Formed areas, bends, holes, edges and profiles are reviewed to ensure the stamped part meets design requirements.
Blanking, piercing and trimming areas are checked for burr condition, edge quality and surface marks.
Trial samples are inspected to support die correction, process validation and preparation for stable production.
