
This stamping part with in-die tapping is a threaded sheet metal component manufactured by integrating the tapping operation directly into the stamping die. Instead of moving the part to a separate tapping process after stamping, the internal thread is formed during the die cycle, helping improve production efficiency and thread consistency for suitable high-volume projects.
The part structure typically includes pierced holes, formed areas and internal threads used for fastening or assembly. The main engineering value of in-die tapping is process integration. When the thread requirement, material thickness, pilot-hole size and production volume are suitable, the tapping mechanism can reduce offline handling, improve thread-position repeatability and support more stable production flow.
However, in-die tapping is not only a simple added station. The die design must control pilot-hole accuracy, tap alignment, tapping depth, strip stability, lubrication, chip removal and synchronization between press stroke and tapping motion. If these factors are not reviewed correctly, thread quality, tap life and production stability may be affected.
For threaded stamped components, the pilot hole is one of the most important control points. If the hole is too small, tapping load increases and tap wear may accelerate. If the hole is too large, thread engagement may be insufficient. Hole burr direction should also be reviewed because burrs can interfere with tap entry, thread quality or final assembly.
